How We Started
Hey there, I’m Matt Claes, creator of Weight Loss Made Practical.
My health journey started in a situation many people experience.
I got busy with life and lost track of my health.
The result of that was that I got overweight, got tired, and was not comfortable in my body.
One day it hit me that if I wanted a good life and plenty of energy to enjoy it, something had to change. Fast.
The problem was that I had no clue about how all of these things worked.
So what do you do in a situation like that?
You follow the typical advice.
In my case, that meant a lot of running and eating a lot less.
While I did see small results with that, it was nowhere near where I wanted to be.
As if that was not disappointing enough, I also got injured from running that much.
I learned that depending so much on exercise to lose weight is not ideal since injuries and a busy schedule can easily get in the way.
Additionally, my way of eating at the time was just not sustainable.
The lack of eating made it so food was always on my mind. If you are like me, you have other things you would rather think about too.
Luckily I discovered that there are all these other health areas and ways of eating that can help you lose weight a lot more effectively and sustainably.
These other methods allow you to enjoy your life and experience the happiness, energy, productivity, fun, etc. that comes with improving your physical health.
By focusing on these other health areas and habits I ultimately lost 37 pounds, added a nice amount of muscle, and, more importantly, I have been sustaining these results for years.
I created Weight Loss Made Practical to help people realize these other methods exist and to help people implement these other methods into their lives.
At the time of writing, I have about 4 years of experience obsessively studying the most important health practices.
These health practices include weight loss, muscle growth, muscle strengthening, longevity, and more.
Something I pride myself on is focusing on low-effort, high-impact methods to achieve optimal health.
I want people to be able to enjoy their lives without having to pay attention to their health every second of the week.
